How do I know if Cellfina™ will help me?
Cellfina>™ is designed to treat the puckering and indentations of the thighs and buttocks known as cellulite. It does not treat tissue laxity or excess or wrinkling, but is very good for addressing unevenness. Ultimately, as with all treatments, a thorough consultation with a well-trained surgeon is necessary to determine if Cellfina™ is appropriate for you.
What can I expect with the procedure?
Consultation
The Cellfina™ procedure begins with a thorough consultation, as previously mentioned. During this consultation, you will meet with Dr. Jones at Jones Plastic Surgery and discuss your concerns. The consultation will also involve a thorough examination and discussion of your specific problem areas, including photography and review. With review of your photography and goals, You and Dr. Jones can formulate an appropriate plan to address your concerns and achieve your goals.
Procedure
For the procedure, you will return to our office, which is also a fully accredited surgical facility. You will again meet with Dr. Jones and review your photographs and goals and pre-procedure markings will be made. You're then brought to the procedure room in a sterile environment where the procedure is performed with local anesthesia. Relaxing medications can be given for patients that prefer this and have a responsible adult present. The procedure takes an average of 45 minutes and patients are awake and may converse with the surgical team during the procedure. Most patients do not require relaxing medication and tolerate the procedure very easily. Some that prefer listen to music. After the installation of numbing medication, small proprietary needles are placed beneath the skin to release the cellulite bands. Dressings and a compression garment such as spanx are then applied.
Recovery
Recovery in the facility from the Cellfina™ procedure is very quick. After dressings are applied and instructions reviewed, patients are ready to go home and are checked on that evening via phone call. The evening of surgery typically involves a minimal amount of soreness that does not typically require pain medication beyond simple Tylenol and ibuprofen. Patients typically return to the office the next day to review the results as well as care instructions and activity restrictions. Follow up visits are then spaced out monthly initially and then less frequently. Some bruising can be expected for a few weeks and soreness typically lasts a week or less. Swimming activities and strenuous exercise are commonly limited for a week or two. Most normal daily activity is resumed immediately. Most patients do not need to take time off work or arrange for child care etc after surgery.
Results
The results from Cellfina™ are typically visible immediately and studies have shown continued improvement to at least two years. In the FDA study, the patient satisfaction rate was 85% of three months, 94% at one year, and 96% two years, easily surpassing the patient satisfaction rates of other leading cellulite treatments. In addition, the global assessment aesthetic scale showed 100% results.
